TxDOT: Click It or Ticket

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is urging drivers to buckle up, noting that seatbelt use can reduce the risk of death by up to 60 percent.

In 2023, 1,183 people who were not wearing seatbelts died in crashes on Texas roads. In the Midland/Odessa area alone, 109 crashes involved unrestrained occupants, resulting in 51 fatalities and 74 serious injuries.

As part of the annual “Click It or Ticket” campaign, TxDOT will travel across the state to encourage Texans to buckle their seatbelts every time they get into a vehicle.
