Texas law enforcement officials charged seven suspects with human smuggling and organized crime-related offenses after discovering a stash house with 26 victims last week.

On Thursday, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, along with other agencies, dismantled a human smuggling operation involving a long gooseneck trailer traveling to a rural home outside San Antonio, described as an open-air shack.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar stated that the trailer, originating from the Laredo area, contained a large false compartment with 26 migrants hidden inside. Among the victims, 12 were taken to University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and heat-related illnesses.

The group consisted of 20 men and six women, ranging in age from 18 to 54.
