Heavenly Halibut

This easy halibut recipe pairs mild halibut fillets with a rich parmesan cheese topping. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner paired with rice and asparagus, or a crisp green salad.
This aptly named halibut recipe is as good as it gets. We're not kidding: Plenty of reviewers say this top-rated halibut rivals anything they've ordered at their favorite restaurants.
There are multiple ways to cook halibut (on the stove, in the oven, on the grill), but we're partial to this method. Halibut is perfectly cooked with a flavorful, crispy topping under your oven's broiler. This halibut recipe should produce perfectly cooked fish in about 10 minutes under your oven's broiler. You'll know the halibut is done when an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center reads 130 to 135 degrees F.
Pair this halibut with a side salad for a light dinner or try it with roasted potatoes or risotto for something a bit more hearty. Since the dish is so simple, though, you can serve it with just about anything. In need of a little inspiration?
Prep Time 15 minutes
Servings 4

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup butter softened
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons chopped green onions
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 dash hot pepper sauce
  • 2 pounds skinless halibut

  • Meanwhile, mix Parmesan cheese, butter, mayonnaise, green onions, lemon juice, salt, and hot pepper sauce in a bowl.
  • Remove fillets from the oven; spread Parmesan mixture over top. Return to the oven and broil until topping is bubbly and lightly browned, about 2 more minutes.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!
