A new teen and youth center is set to be built in Big Spring. According to YMCA CEO Dathan Jones, The Y has been working on this project for the past couple of years and it is now 85 percent funded, with construction expected to begin this summer.

Jones mentioned that the facility will offer something unique for local teens and youth. Designed for ages 12 through 18, the center will feature a recording studio, a movie area, and a multipurpose gym. It will be managed by a junior YMCA board comprising 18 students—six each from Big Spring, Coahoma, and Forsan.

The teen and youth center is being made possible through significant financial contributions from the Dora Roberts Rehabilitation Center and the Marie Hall Foundation.
