Move Over or Slow Down Texas

In September, Texas implemented a stricter law to enhance driver accountability on state roads.

The revised Move Over or Slow Down law imposes harsher penalties, including potential jail time and fines of up to $4,000, for violations.

Under the updated law, drivers are mandated to either move over to create a lane of separation between their vehicle and roadside workers, or decrease their speed to at least 20 mph below the posted limit when passing law enforcement, tow trucks, utility vehicles, emergency responders, and TxDOT vehicles halted with activated overhead lights on the roadside.
