Howard County Commissioner’s Meeting Highlights

In Monday’s Howard County Commissioners Court meeting, they discussed a possible burn ban. The Volunteer Fire Chief, Eric Barber, recommended not issuing one for now and revisiting the decision in a couple of weeks. The Commissioners decided to table the issue for two weeks. They also approved an agreement with the City of Big Spring for EMS, pending the City’s approval. Additionally, the speed limit on CR 9, from the Dawson County Line to FM 846, was raised from 45 mph to 65 mph. The County Road Engineer, Brian Klinkseik, mentioned that the previous speed limit had likely been in place since the national speed limit was 55 mph and may not have been updated.
