Cooking Fire Displaced Residents

Early Monday morning, a fire broke out at an apartment complex near east Wadley and Carver Street, according to officials. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m., leading to the evacuation of residents as firefighters spent over three hours extinguishing the fire. The blaze resulted in one person getting injured, eight apartment units being impacted, and 22 residents being displaced. Midland Fire and Police attribute the fire to a cooking incident. The American Red Cross provided assistance in securing housing for those displaced. The City of Midland reports that the Midland Fire Department’s investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
