Big Spring ISD Bond Election Greenlit

Big Spring ISD board greenlit a $219 million bond election slated for May 4, 2024, comprising two propositions. Proposition A, totaling $216.7 million, aims to construct a new high school, demolish the old one, add a band and music hall at Goliad Elementary, establish a maintenance and transportation shop, enhance the soccer field, upgrade elementary campuses' drainage, and replace 30 HVAC units. Proposition B, amounting to $2.3 million, is designated for field lighting and an 8-lane track at Memorial Stadium. The bond's approval is anticipated to maintain a projected tax rate of $1.08/$100 valuation for the next year, lower than rates from 2015 to 2020.
