Big Spring Fire Station Closed

Residents are being alerted by the Big Spring Firefighters Association that Fire Station Two has unexpectedly closed once again, with no prior notice from the City of Big Spring.

This marks the fifth unannounced closure, following the City Council’s decision to reduce the minimum number of firefighters. Consequently, 20 firefighters have left the city’s Fire Department, prompting concerns from the Big Spring Firefighters Association about a potential public safety crisis.

Projections indicate that an additional five to eight firefighters may depart in the next 90 days, leaving nearly half of the fire department positions unfilled.
